This weeks article, is very helpful article on Banking in Turkey by Karen of Being Koy, it’s something I am yet to venture into though I will need to start thinking about getting a bank account here at some point and though I have my hubby to guide me through the process it is really helpful to know a little bit more of the ins and outs and this great article gives you just that.
As always with Karen’s way of writing, the article is easy to read and gives all the main points you need to know in an easy to find layout so you can pick out the sections that interest you.
Who can open a bank account in Turkey?
Basically, anyone who has a Turkish Tax Number can open an account. A tax number is quickly obtained from the local tax office and this deducts at source the government’s cut from your interest earned. Some features of banking, like gold trading and mutual funds and share dealing require full demographic information and that means a Residence Permit and the associated Turkish identity number.
This is certainly an article I will be bookmarking for future reference and I am sure many of you will appreciate this useful article.
