This is the 2nd Part of Aimee’s story about how she came to live in Turkey. Part One of Aimee’s Story
My father in law was gone. Forever. All of our dreams and plans gone in the matter of a second. Never ever in my life had I felt so much pain, not only for my own sorrow but my husband. His heart would be broken forever and nothing would ever be able to fix it.
So, why was he murdered. Well, my husband is the youngest and he has 2 older sisters and 1 older brother. The brother was married to this women from a few villages over. She was the only girl and had 6 older brothers. My brother in law was not very good keeping his money, he gambled a lot, was going back and forth to Batum, Georgia a lot. His wife was not happy with that and started to complain about him spending their money on other things not for family things. My father in law was 53 and he had slowly built himself up and he had a good amount of money and real estate. The wife time and time again went to her brothers complaining about my brother in law and they were not happy at all.
Later during the court and trial of his murder we found out how and why it happened. 3 of the wives brothers came up with a plan that they were going to pay someone 10,000 lira and supply them with drugs to shoot my father in law. But the shooter was never supposed to kill him. The plan was to just shoot him in the leg to scare him and they thought maybe then they could get money from him. It was around 9 am on Christmas eve and my father in law walked to his office to open for the day. His house was right across the street from his office. As he walked in the shooter came up behind him and shot him 3 times. Once in the head once in the stomache and in the shoulder. The brothers had given the shooter heroine before he went out to do it.
To make things even worse, my husband could not come to Turkey for his fathers funeral. Because he had not received his green card at that time he could enter the country but would have a problem at the airport over his military obligations and also he would not be able to come back into America. Could you just imagine the pain he felt. So I did the only thing I thought was right. The next day I made all the arrangements and was on a plane to Turkey all by myself. I went for eight days not knowing the language, or anyone or anything. I just felt in my heart it was the only way I could show my respect for my late father in law and also my husband.
my husband received his green card an month and a half later, after his father passed. Recep was going to Turkey. 2 days before he was leaving for 6 months, we found out i was pregnant……
Aimee will be writing more about her life in Turkey in the coming weeks.

Brian JukesAimme,
Such a tragic story. A desperate world where people can create such pain over money. Being much older and having worked long and hard for all of my life I have found that love, good health and happiness are the only real precious metals.

Aimee YaziciSo very true. My father in law was the same way. He loved people, he loved waking up everyday, just loved life. He was like an angel put on earth. So many people he helped get work, get into school, gave money to….it’s just such a shame. When he passed the newspapers reported that more than 3,000 people were at his funeral. The hardest part is living here in his town, without him. thank you for reading and commenting.
